KEEPING IN SHAPE OVER THE FESTIVE HOLIDAYS

KEEPING IN SHAPE OVER THE FESTIVE HOLIDAYS
From the team of ExerciseNow we wish everyone a Safe and Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

By Hesham Ayad.

Well, Christmas has come around again and ExerciseNow will be celebrating with you our second Christmas together in the summer holidays. With daylight getting longer and nights becoming shorter, most of us will be on our summer holiday break and asking ourselves what gifts to buy for our loved ones and friends but, also importantly what will we eat. And while thinking about the great foods, our thoughts tend to tiptoe in our minds about the possibility to eat the fabulous Christmas foods without adding on the Christmas love handles.

THERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO STAY FIT DURING THE CHRISTMAS & NEW YEARS BREAK:

We usually want to keep ourselves from regular exercise, but it isn't healthy for our mind or body. Maintaining regular training is extremely important so we do not become lazy and it would be harder for us to get back into our exercise routine. We are more likely to exercise if we feel good with what we wear, so by buying clothing that is comfortable to move around and looks nice can help the mind feel much better and finding some space to carry out our exercises can also help. Try simple exercises that anyone can do anywhere – push-ups, sit-ups, leg-lifts and so on can make for a good routine. If you travel a lot then put in your flight-bag things you can carry like a skipping rope or hand weights to add variety to your workout.

Spending hours exercising each and every day of your holiday can become boring because of its repetitiveness. Mixing your exercises each day or just three days a week can help by choosing one or more exercises that helps us feel relaxed and happier. After a few big meals that usually happens over the holiday break, trying these exercises will help prevent adding on weight. Exercises that we may like to do can be walking, swimming, jogging, gym-work-outs, hiking, canoeing, rowing, diving or adventure sports such as kite surfing, stand up paddle, skating and so on, with these exercises doing them outside early in the day would be best. However, importantly with these outside exercises mixing drinks with sun and surf is not idyllic.

Choosing our alcoholic beverages wisely over the holidays or even at any other time is important. However, when it comes to alcoholic beverages, some are a little less naughty for us. Clear spirit-base drinks such as vodka mixed with fresh lime and soda or gin and tonic are much better options that can prevent you from putting on weight rather than drinking wine and beer.

At the end of the day it is the holiday season, so no matter how or what we will do; letting your hair down for a couple of weeks won’t hurt as long as you are safe and happy then go for it and have an enjoyable time with family and friends!!

the festive season is where we let ourselfs lose a little and that is what a holiday is good point on the alcoholic beverages, although red wine should be fine. I think.
