Bio: The Port Melbourne Yacht Club (PMYC) was established 1889. PMYC season for sailing starts in September through to May. There is sail training for juniors and adults. There is an ‘Open Day’ and ‘Try Sailing Day’ in November. PMYC regularly hosts Interclub, State, National regattas and Social Events.

PORT TRACKERS & JUNIORS:
Criteria for enrolment for children are between 8 years old to 16 years. Port Tackers aged from around 8 to around 11 years old (depending on skill). Juniors aged from around 11 to 16 years old (depending on skill). The children must be a member of PMYC.

Port Tackers is the PMYC programme for the introduction to sailing for kids from 6 to around 11 years old (depending on skill), based on the Yachting Victoria sailing programme. Children discover their new environment, the basic practices of boat handling and the joy of being on the water. They will be taught how to steer and trim the sails, in a fun manner. Port Tackers will be held on Saturday mornings.

The junior sailing school is for children from around 11 to 16 years old (depending on skill). It can be accessed by either beginners or experienced young sailors. Saturday morning will be dedicated to learning sailing. Depending on their abilities, the child will learn basic practices or more complicated things about boat handling sail trimming and the principles of racing.

MEMBERSHIP:
Senior Membership gives full access to the Club’s facilities including Club Competition races and full voting rights. Family membership provides Senior Membership for one person, plus access to the club competition and facilities for their spouse/partner and children 18 years of age and under. Full time students over the age of 18 years and holders of (health cards) may apply for concessional membership and receive the same access to the club facilities and competition as senior members. Children and youths of 18 years or under may become junior members of the club.

FEES:
$120+GST=$132 per Session for both tackers & juniors, payable in full before the first session, there are no concession rates. A booking is not confirmed until the fee is paid.

TIMES:
Port Tackers - Saturday Morning 8.30am to 12.00pm
Juniors - Saturday Morning 8.30am to 12.00pm
Juniors - Saturday Afternoon 1.30pm to 4.00pm
